Kolmannskuppe
The story of Kolmannskuppe - or Kolmanskop in Afrikaans - starts in 1908, when a diamond was found while cleaning the railway line of the constantly shifting sand.
Shortly after, the run of the fortune seekers began and diamond mining camps were erected.
In 1910 Kolmannskuppe had become a full functioning small town, which became the administration center of the diamond industry and the wealthiest town in Africa of its day.
But the town was not granted a long prosperity. 1928 was the beginning of the end, when bigger diamond sources were found further south.
1956; the last person left Kolmannskuppe. From there on it was abandoned and left to the elements.
Today tourists can take a guided tour - and imagine, how life must have been back then - in the midst of the Namib desert.

A Dream
Nobody can exactly describe what we see in our dreams. Reality mingles with the experiences and feelings of the dreamer - places, people and perspectives change, the common sense is sleeping.
